AI marketing tools, grouped by the job they do
Short answer
The best AI marketing tools are the ones that do a job you already have, inside the systems you already run. For most small businesses that means one AI assistant, the AI built into their ad platforms and email tool, free reporting in GA4 and Looker Studio, and one automation tool to join them up. Tools improve results only when someone runs them against a goal.

What are the best AI marketing tools?
The best AI marketing tools are the ones that do one job you already have to do, inside the software you already use, and give you output you can check. No single list is best for everyone: the right email tool for an online shop is the wrong one for a B2B firm routing leads to a sales team. So the useful way to compare them is by job.
| Job | Tools worth a look | Where the AI does the work |
|---|---|---|
| Writing, research and analysis | ChatGPT, Claude | Drafts, summaries of reviews and calls, reading exports from your ad and analytics tools |
| Design and ad creative | Canva | Resizing, background removal, translation and AI ad creation |
| Paid ads | Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager | Automated bidding, audience expansion and mixing your headlines, images and videos into ads |
| Email and CRM | Klaviyo for online shops, HubSpot for B2B | Segments, subject lines, predicted next order dates and help writing emails |
| Reporting | GA4, Looker Studio | GA4 flags unusual changes; Looker Studio puts every channel on one page |
| Joining it all up | Zapier, Make, n8n | AI steps inside a workflow that classify, enrich or summarise as data moves between tools |
Two things stand out in that table. Most of the AI a small business uses day to day is already inside tools it pays for, and the standalone AI tool it needs is usually one general assistant rather than five specialist ones. Search and SEO tools are a case of their own, covered on our page about AI SEO tools.
Plenty of people are shopping for this. The keyword data below shows far more searches for AI marketing tools in general than for the best ones, which suggests most buyers are still working out what the category even contains.
| Search | UK | US |
|---|---|---|
| ai marketing tools | 390 | 4,400 |
| best ai marketing tools | 90 | 390 |
| best ai tools for marketing | 70 | 390 |
| All of these | 550 | 5,180 |

Which AI tools does a small business actually need for marketing?
A small business needs an AI assistant for writing and analysis, the AI already built into its ad platforms, an email or CRM tool with automation, a free reporting setup, and one tool to connect them. Most of these can be started on a free plan, and the first paid upgrade usually comes from volume, not features.
| Job | Start with | Cost to start | Upgrade when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Writing and analysis | ChatGPT or Claude | Free plans; the main paid plan of each is $20 a month billed monthly | Someone uses it daily or needs projects for brand files |
| Design | Canva | Free; Pro is US$144 a year for one person | You need brand kits, bulk resizing or premium assets |
| Email for an online shop | Klaviyo | Free up to 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month | Your list or sending passes those limits |
| CRM for a B2B business | HubSpot | Free tools | You need more automation or reporting than the free tools give |
| Reporting | GA4 and Looker Studio | Free | Rarely, for a small business |
| Connecting tools | Zapier, Make or n8n | Free plans; Zapier's includes 100 tasks a month, and n8n is free to self-host | Workflows run often or need several steps |

Prices are from each vendor's pricing page at the time of writing, September 2026, in US dollars as shown there; your checkout may show your own currency and tax. The ad platforms charge nothing for their AI features, because you pay for the media itself.[2][4]
What to leave out matters as much. Skip all-in-one platforms that promise to replace your ad accounts, email tool and CRM with one AI dashboard, because moving your data out again is hard and the AI underneath is usually the same models you can use directly. Be wary of paying for several writing tools on top of an assistant you already have. And do not buy a tool for a job nobody has time to do.
- Job fit: it does a task you do every week, not one you might do someday.
- Your data: it connects to the accounts and exports you already have.
- Checkable output: you can see and edit what it produced before it goes out.
- Cost at your volume: work out the price at your list size or task count, not the entry price.
- Data handling: you know whether your content is used for training and can switch it off.
- An owner: one person is responsible for running it and reading the results.
Our guide to choosing AI marketing tools runs a two-week trial against real work for each of those criteria.
Do tools alone improve results?
No. Tools make the work faster, and results only move when someone points them at a goal, reads the numbers every week and changes what is not working. A business that buys tools without that routine gets the subscriptions and keeps the old results.
The national figures point the same way. Among UK businesses with ten or more staff that use AI, the ONS found the average uses only about 1.6 AI technologies, and just 10% use AI extensively. Difficulty identifying where to use it and a lack of expertise are among the barriers businesses report most often. Access to tools is rarely what holds a business back.[10]
ToastPal shows the difference. The AI produced ad copy variants for Google Ads in volume, but the revenue came from a person running a weekly cycle around them across the US, UK, Australia and Canada: reviewing every ad group each Monday, pausing what lost money, moving budget to what won and testing landing pages alongside. Jakub ran that as a freelance consultant, before he founded the company.[11][12]

What we do
We run your marketing for you and make it pay for itself.
- First comes a free written breakdown: we look at your site and any numbers you choose to share, with no logins, and show you where the money leaks and the first thing we would fix.
- Then we fix and run the connected commercial journey: the work that earns attention, the pages that turn it into a lead or sale, and the follow-up that creates the next valuable conversion.
- Everything is actively managed and improved, with a weekly report showing what changed and what it made, and you approve everything before it goes out.
- Rolling monthly. No lock-in, cancel any time.
What it is not
- Not a single-channel agency: we do whatever makes you money next, not ads forever or SEO forever.
- Not a junior team on a six-month lock-in: you work with Jakub directly, rolling monthly.
- Not AI left to run on its own: every piece is reviewed by a person and approved by you.
We also build custom automations, such as reporting digests, lead enrichment and routing, and support triage in tools like n8n, Make and Zapier. They are an add-on to the managed service, not a separate offer.
More questions
Are free AI marketing tools good enough?
For a small business starting out, often yes. The free plans of the main assistants, Canva, Klaviyo, HubSpot, GA4 and Looker Studio cover a lot of real work. The limits you hit first are usually volume and team features, and the signal to upgrade is that someone is using the tool every day on work that makes money. Our list of free AI marketing tools goes through their limits.
Should I buy a specialist AI copywriting tool?
Only if it does something your general assistant cannot, such as holding brand rules across a large team with approvals built in. For most small businesses a paid ChatGPT or Claude plan, loaded with your brand guide and examples of approved copy, does the same job for less.
